I know people say all the time that they love their job, but MAN I REALLY LOVE MY JOB!!!!!! Today was an amazing day in the Gulf, I was joined by Gary, Jim, Mauh and Tram for a 6 hour Snapper trip. The morning started out like any other with a quick run to the bait boat followed by a nice ride South to our first stop. Thats when things got good, before I realized it we had our full limit (8) of really nice Snapper in the box.

With plenty of time left and a box full of nice fish, we decided to head to a great little area that is a great spot for chumming Black Snapper. Once we arrived and I started chunking the fish rose from the bottom like a cloud. It was amazing to see the fish and then see my Bottom Machine blacked out from the fish!!! We sat and caught Black Snapper and released Red Snapper for the next two hours!! We hooked several Blacks that we had no chance of ever turning with the light tackle we were using!! This was one of the greates bites I have seen in a long time and I hope to have a chance to see it again real soon. After messing with the Snaper for a while we decided to rig one of our last live cigs and make a slow troll back through our slick, what do you know….. King Mackerel!!!!! We rigged another cig and yep, you guessed it. Another King Mackerel.

Today was an amazing day on the water with a great crew!!! I am very lucky to be able to fish for a living and I thank my lucky stars everyday that Lady Luck is still on my side!

…………………… See yo out there

( things were so crazy today that I didn’t take as many pics as usual… sorry)

We have been fishing for red snapper almost every day lately. The weather has been good and the snapper have been big and everywhere! A variety of live and dead baits like butterflied menhaden, live croakers, pinfish, and threadfins have all been productive. Along with red snapper we are also catching scamp, mingos and some trigger fish to add a little variety to the box. Get out there while you can, snapper season will be over before you know it!

Sorry for the lack of reports from us lately, we have been swamped! I fished with Dr. Brian, his seven year old twin sons, and their grandpa yesterday Saturday 6/11.  We left the dock at 6:30 a.m., stopped by and got some live cigar minnows from the bait boat, and were on our spot by 7:15.  It didn’t take long and we had our four person limit of red snapper, also caught a king, some gags, and a shark on the snapper spot in 90 feet of water. Left their and ran to the buoys for some king action, caught a couple pretty quick slow trolling with live cigars and made our way back to the dock in time for lunch.

Today Sunday 6/12 I fished with a good customer from the store Rob, his wife, and their friends from Atlanta. We headed out at 6:30, swung by the bait boat and got a live well from of cigar minnows from Tony, and went after the red snapper. We fished a few different spots in 85-95 feet of water 9-12 miles east of Pensacola Pass and had no trouble catching our limit of red snapper. Also, got into some nice black snapper that we chummed up using chunked menhaden, caught them free lining on 20 pound braid.  On our way in we made a few drifts through the pass and the tide was perfect, but we didn’t get a bite.

The fishing has been amazing so far this season. These pictures are from a new service I am offering this year. I am now running Captain for Hire trips, let me take you and your family fishing aboard your boat. Today I took Jason and his great friend Rick on an all day multi species trip aboard Jason’s 23′ Everglades. Now for our report.

Jason, Rick and I left Tiger Point at around 6:30 am and blasted towards the Pass. We quickly loaded up with threadfins and made our way towards the South. We quickly caught the Snapper we needed and moved into the multi species mode. We successfully landed Amberjack, red Snapper, Black Snapper and topped the box off with four King Mackerel. After a fun day in the Gulf and with a few baits left in the tank we decided to stop in the Pass and try to land a handful of Giant Bull reds. Luckily they decided to cooperate as well. We boated 3 Bull reds and called it a day!

An amazing day for sure on what I can only describe as the finest 23′ boat I have ever fished out of!! Thanks to Jason and Rick for the trip.

………………. see you out there

First off I would like to thank everyone involved in setting up and running the Queen of Kings Tournament and I would also like to especially thank Hallie Burnett the National Marketing Director of the Fishin Chix. Hallie has hired me two years running for this tournament with hopes of being the first Bay boat to win a King tournament!

We started out at Shoreline launch early and quickly found ourselves catching Threadfin Herring 3 and 4 at a time!! With our livewell loaded we rocketed offshore in hopes of Big fish! Our plan was to stop first thing and get our Snapper to try and take the Big Snapper calcutta, we did manage a quick limit and threw back plenty of Snapper in the 8lb range trying to boat the monsters we needed. The two we kept were both at the 12lb mark but just weren’t enough to take first.

As far as the trolling we worked extremely hard all day long to try and boat a big fish. We managed 5 kings through the day, but could not land one larger than 10lbs. It was very disappointing to say the least. But our misfortune was not for lack of trying. We trolled until the very last minute and arrived at the scales 15 minutes before they closed at 7:30pm.

All though we didn’t win we did have a blast fishing and caught a ton of fish!

Once again thanks to the crew at Paradise, the Staff of the Queen of Kings tourney and Hallie for another AWESOME event!

…………..See you out there

June 1st can’t get here soon enough! Today I guided Shaun, Chastity, Justin and Lindsay on a 6 hour Gulf trip. Our goal was to get a box load of great fish and to pull on some big fish! Our first stop of the morning we did just that. First spot we managed to catch a Keeper Gag weighing a little over 9 lbs and several snapper over the 10lb mark!! Not a bad way to start a morning.

On the same spot we were freight trained by a few fish that we couldn’t even slow down! The bite was amazing, we hit two more spots to finish up our day. We managed to find a really good AJ bite but ran out of baits after boating three and losing one more and on another spot we boated a few Lane Snapper, Black Snapper and White Snapper. The bite in the Gulf right now is as good as it gets and should stay hot the rest of the year! Most of our fish were caught in 85 foot of water on large live baits. The tide line in the bay is holding a lot of Thread Fins right now, so be sure and take the time to load up before heading out!

All in all a great day on the water with a great crew! Thanks to Shaun, Chastity, Justin and Lindsay for your service to our Country and i hope to have the pleasure of fishing with you guys again real soon!!

…………………See you out there
